Welcome to Primary Journey!

Hello there!

Over the years I have searched for a profession that inspires me, fills me with joy and helps to provide a life I want. When asked what I wanted to be in 2005 I knew I wanted to teach, but teach what this was the question that caused me to reflect and feel lost. I had always loved mathematics and dance but after experiencing A Level Maths I knew this was not the correct route for me. So dance it was.

I left for the University of Central Lancashire in 2010 to study BA(Hons) in Dance, Performance and Teaching and gained experience teaching in a wide variety of settings. These experiences enforced my love of teaching particularly within the GCSE and Post-Compulsory Sector. So with this knowledge I went on to study a PGCE in Post Compulsory, opening my own dance school and began to teach within this sector.

I loved teaching within this environment but holding such a specialism caused jobs to be rare and extremely difficult to obtain so after achieving my masters in 2019 I decided to return to complete my PGCE in Primary. Knowing I was put on this Earth to teach has pushed me through these pathways but since participating in this course there is no where else I would rather be.

Over the past 12 months I have prepared, trained and experienced the life of a trainee primary teacher; this experience has been eventful and challenging yet also extremely rewarding. But now as I progress into my role as an Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) I have been inspired to reflect and also write about my experiences and journey through this career change.

I hope this blog helps to: answer questions you may have, give you a sense that you are not alone, and inspires your teaching as time goes on.

I hope you join me on this journey, say hello and help to build my little community.
